Since its launch in 2010, the U4energy school competition has sparked much enthusiasm with over 600 schools from 30 European countries submitting over 1,000 success stories.

ISWA competition

Attention!
The deadline to submit your participation to the ISWA competition
has been postponed to the 30 June 2012
and
the deadline to send the artworks to the 31 October 2012

Aim and regulation
The ISWA competition aims to stimulate curiosity and engagement in science of young people in Europe and in particular of European secondaryschool pupils. The idea is to show that scientific ideas and scientific researches originate from a creative and emotional process, as happens in artisticprocesses.
The ISWA competition is organised in the framework of the ISWA project, which also involves artists, generic public and schools in artistic events andartworks.
1. Who can compete?
Young people of 15–19 years old from all member countries of the European Union, countries associated to FP7, Russian Federation are eligible forparticipation in the competition.
The young participants can compete either individually or in groups. Groups can be composed also by school classes, which are encouraged to workunder the auspices of one or several teachers.

How can you take action?



Step 1: Sign up for DeforestACTION.
Step 2: Learn more about the issues and politics of deforestation and palm oil.  What are the links between palm oil and deforestation? How does it impact climate change and the loss of animal habitat? What impact does it have on communities? Share what you learn with others around the world.
Step 3: Are you using products that contain palm oil? Look for products that may contain palm oil from around your house, your school or organization, and put everything you find on a table. Check the labels and split it into two groups: things that contain palm oil or products of its kernel and things without. Take a picture and upload it!
Step 4: Which companies are using palm oil products? Share your findings.
Step 5: Take Action!
Help stop deforestation by purchasing wonderful DeforestACTION products designed by students at Dallas Brooks Community Primary School. All profits go towards sponsoring rainforest lands in Borneo! Exploring growth factors. Applying inquiry learning and virtual forums

Primary school students study wild courtyard plants and practice the construction of a simple experimental design related to growth factors. They carry out an inqhttp://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gifuiry project in teams, practicing complex scientific skills such as the formulation of research questions and hypotheses, information search, making and documenting observations, writing, etc. The 10-lesson inquiry process is coordinated, documented and shared using a Web-based collaboration environment and its virtual forums. Project CoReflect


Project CoReflect (Title: Digital support for Inquiry, Collaboration, and Reflection on Socio-Scientific Debates) is a three year (2008-2011) research program, http://www.blogger.com/img/blank.giffunded by the European Commission, under the FP7 Science in Society program. http://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gifBringihttp://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gifng together eight diverse and multi-disciplinary teams from seven European states, the project members promoted evidence-based practice in science teaching and learning, by collaborating to iteratively design, enact, critique, and validate problem-based innovative inquiry learning environments. These environments, which are being hosted on the STOCHASMOS web-based teaching and learning platform, coupld data-rich scientific rigor with the flexibility and easy modifiability that is needed for widespread adoption and use by teachers.
